Fieldcrest Montessori School Reviews

I am convinced that Fieldcrest is the best possible school for my daughter. The teachers, school property, administrators and staff are all amazing and communicate well with the parents. I know that some parents were upset by administrative changes in this new school, but every aspect seems to have improved since. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants their child to learn in a beautiful environment that fosters independence.

The outside of the cup is shiny here, but inside is another story. The most important questions that need answered here never will be. For the many people who are leaving and even those who chose to stay, there are rules of engagement that is very far from freedom of speech. If you have other choices, please exercise them before you sink your resources in Fieldcrest, a school haunted by its own choices.

Interesting to see how they 'frontloaded' the reviews for this school with good comments. Much how they handle most issues....they make it look rosy and wonderful but the administration is, well, .....not good. Evidenced by the huge turnover in staff and parents in the past two years. An unhealthy environment that trickles down to the students. This school had so much potential but they consistently pick the wrong path. They seem to chase off parents who wish to help and prefer parents who simply drop off their children and don't get too involved. To say this is a Montessori is simply not right. The only consolation to the many disillusioned parents is that slowly but surely their undesirable reputation is preceding them. Maria Montessori would cry if she knew about this school.

There are many things that Fieldcrest has going for it, but Montessori is not one. Neither is the support of class educators in leadership positions. Some great people no doubt whom the kids that go there enjoy, but for long term, they have look at what role educating themselves about how to run a school is going to be important. Otherwise, some of the most impressive resources in the area in terms of environment and potential are going to go the way of just another good idea. Also, wish folks weren't quite so critical of people who see things differently than the power structure. Learning lends learning and it is not reserved to only the powerful. Some pretty nice people have been hurt by decision making that seems unaccountable to parents, teachers, or students. To us, we, as a school, are at a crossroad that can go any number of ways.

Excellent school! A wonderful environment for children to learn. This is an exciting school for our two children to attend and we only look forward to all the continued growth in the future.

My expeirience has been very good as my child is excelling in their environment. The teachers have been good and the administration has been very helpful and very cooperative. I highly recommend you looking at this school.

I started working at Fieldcrest during its first year. I came to them as a permanent sub and came back this year as a full time teacher. Since the school has had our new administrator, I have had no problem getting questions answered or getting supplies that I need. I love working with all of my students. Due to the freedom within our Montessori environment, my students and I can choose if we want to have our class indoors or on our beautiful property. I believe that this is a great place to work and there only great things to come.

I'm sorry to hear that some parents found change very difficult to handle. I would like to say that the new direction that the school is taking has only made it better. The teachers and administrator have brought joy and excitement to my child. They feel comfortable here and are excited about coming to school. She has a desire to learn. She would have never have been able to do this anywhere else but on these beautiful grounds.

I was brought on board at Fieldcrest 5 months ago. I am a consultant for the upcoming arts program on the property and have had a daily opportunity to watch the Montessori School in action. To say that I'm impressed would be an understatement. Scarlet Rue, who runs the school, has implemented a positive atmosphere and an environment that is unparalleled in any other school I've seen. Children are taught in a unique and individual way that I wish I'd had when growing up! The property itself, which is a reckoning back to a turn-of-the-century serenity, only enhances the learning experience, in my opinion. If you want your child to have a progressive and inspirational education, Fieldcrest of Montessori is the place for you. I am an impartial observor, not on the payroll, brought in to develop an arts center for the children of Stark County. Deborah Fezelle

The new Head of School has made incredible progress since coming on board a few months ago. The school is growing and thriving! The teachers seem to be supportive and more than ready to move on from the past incompetence and lack of professionalism displayed by the former administrative team. They are ready to be part of a productive and positive team. The Montesomthings are the ones who are disgruntled over staff changes and are leading a vicious negative campaign against the school. The school that their children attend. Something fishy? You bet. Parents be smart, look around, and see for yourself the wonderful Montessori school that exists right before your own eyes.

I agree that the administrative decisions do not in any way contribute to a nurturing atmosphere, nor really a Montessori based education, as a parent would hope for in a school that calls itself Montessori. I also agree that the teachers and students deserved better. Parents are seen as customers, not as stakeholders in their children's education.

I have some concerns about how this school is run. I think it represents some long term threat to the school integrity. I think there have been at least two petitions directed against practices there, but no responses to them. We are looking elsewhere for next year.

I think this schools growing pains have been excessive, not very conscious of the health of vital teachers, vulnerable students, or parents. There is something fishy here.

Good, caring teachers BUT awful administration (absent and non-communicating). It's really too bad. A great concept but I don't think it will last. Most parents are very unhappy.
